The Murphy Family’s Story
Meet the Murphy Family. Natalia Murphy has called Alachua County home for the past 17 years. Originally from Dunnellon and Tampa, she’s spent nearly two decades planting roots and building a life for her growing family. A dedicated Mental Health Technician at Meridian, Natalia works each day supporting others in their journey toward wellness—while simultaneously striving to create a strong and stable foundation for her own children.
For Natalia, family is everything. Her greatest joy comes from simply being together—whether it's sharing meals, playing games, or spending time at her mother’s house. These moments, though simple, are filled with love and laughter. Natalia is the proud mother of five children, ranging in age from 17 to 4—and her family is about to grow even more with the exciting arrival of a new baby on the way! Her children love watching TV, playing outside, and making memories with their extended family. Each one brings their own light and personality into the home, creating a warm, energetic, and deeply connected family full of love and support.
When asked what motivated her to apply to Habitat for Humanity, Natalia’s response was heartfelt and simple: “I just want a better life for me and my family.” Like many hardworking parents, Natalia dreams of a stable, secure home where her children can thrive. With hopes of one day starting her own business, homeownership is not just a dream come true—it’s a stepping stone toward larger goals and generational progress.
Finding out she had been accepted into the Habitat program was an emotional moment. “The only thing I could do was thank God,” Natalia said, overwhelmed with gratitude. Her journey with Habitat so far has been one of connection and joy—meeting new people, learning new skills, and embracing the sense of community that the program fosters.
As she looks ahead to life in her new home, Natalia is filled with hope. She envisions precious memories made in every room, and the freedom to shape a better future. Her new home will not only be a safe haven but also a symbol of her resilience, determination, and deep love for her family.
When Natalia thinks about being a homeowner, three words come to mind: blessed, grateful, thankful. With the support of the Habitat community, she and her children are now on the path to unlocking the door to a brighter, more secure future—one filled with hope, stability, and opportunity.
