Cars for Homes

Donate your vehicle to help build homes

If you have an older car, truck, van, trailer, RV or boat taking up valuable space in your yard, garage, or driveway, consider donating it to support affordable housing in Alachua County!

Donations made through Habitat for Humanity's Cars for Homes program can save you the time and energy of finding a buyer. Plus, proceeds from the sale of your donated vehicle will be used to help us build local Habitat homes. It is quick and easy to donate a vehicle whether it runs or not! You may also be eligible for a tax deduction.

What vehicles does the Cars for Homes program accept for donation?

Cars for Homes accepts cars, trucks, boats, RVs and other vehicles with proper title and proof of ownership. As a general rule, if the vehicle is fewer than 12 years old, runs, has no major damage or major mechanical problems, it is eligible. RVs, boats, motorcycles, older specialty vehicles or those in exceptional condition may be eligible as well.

To donate a car, truck, boat, or RV to Cars for Homes - Habitat for Humanity's official car donation program - call 877-277-4344 toll free or learn more about car donation at https://www.habitat.org/support/donate-your-car.

Can I donate a vehicle directly to Alachua Habitat for Humanity?

Alachua Habitat for Humanity accepts donations of late-model pickup trucks and cargo vans to use as construction vehicles. We also accept late-model sedans or SUVs for program/administrative use. Donated vehicles must be in good working condition.

To find out more about donating a car or fleet vehicle to Alachua Habitat, contact Stevie Doyle at sdoyle@alachuahabitat.org or 352-371-5871.

Planned Giving

When you give to Alachua Habitat for Humanity through your estate or long-term financial plans, you are forging your legacy and ensuring that future generations will have an affordable, safe, and decent place to call home.

As a Habitat supporter, there are many ways that you can create a legacy. By naming Alachua Habitat for Humanity as a beneficiary of your will, living trust, or retirement plan assets, you help bring hope to future generations of families in need of affordable housing. Your gift allows you to transform the lives of hardworking families right here in Alachua County.

Please contact our Executive Director, Stevie Doyle, at 352-371-5871 or sdoyle@alachuahabitat.org for more information.

Land Donations

We can only build houses if we have land to build them on!

Finding decent, safe, affordable housing is not easy for Alachua County families. For Alachua Habitat for Humanity, finding affordable land to build on is an even bigger obstacle.

We accept donations of property in Alachua County to build on, as well as lots that we can sell on the open market to generate funding for our programs. Gifts of land are preferred, but we can also purchase land below market value if the price and location fit our program needs.

By making a gift of real estate, the donation provides you with tax benefits while making a personal impact for local families.

If you are interested in donating property, please call 352-371-5871 or email sdoyle@alachuahabitat.org.

Materials and Services

Do you or your company have unused building materials, hardware or related supplies? Are you interested in sharing your professional skill set with Habitat? In-kind donations of materials and services are a vital part of our mission - they help us cut costs and build more affordable housing in our community.

Bulk/new materials to habitat projects

Alachua Habitat for Humanity accepts donations of many types of building materials, supplies, and tools. Due to bulk purchasing agreements, ongoing in-kind donor relationships and maintaining continuity and construction standards on all Habitat homes, we are often unable to utilize donated items in new home construction. Our construction staff handles these types of donations and determines their suitability to be used on site.

Items that cannot be used in a new Habitat home may be donated to the ReStore. Sales of donated items at the ReStore account help us build more Habitat homes each year! Know that your donation will be put to good use helping families in need of affordable housing.

Skilled labor or construction services

Alachua Habitat for Humanity utilizes volunteers for the majority of construction work completed on our homes. However, there are a few types of services that regular volunteers are not able to perform: earthwork, sewer & water installation, concrete, plumbing, HVAC, electrical work, and roofing. Any company or individual willing to partner with Alachua Habitat must be licensed, insured, and committed to completing the entire project. Contact Stevie Doyle at sdoyle@alachuahabitat.org for more information about donating services.
