The Clark & Holcomb Family’s Story

Meet the Clark & Holcomb Family. For Rose Holcomb and Phillip Clark, the journey to homeownership has been filled with detours, persistence, and a dream they refused to give up on. Now, as future Habitat homeowners, their dream is finally becoming a reality—and with it, a brighter future for their four children.

Phillip, originally from New Jersey, and Rose, whose family settled in Maryland after years of moving with her father’s Army assignments, met in Maryland and later made their home in Alachua. They’ve lived in the community for the past eight years, building a life centered on hard work, family, and hope. Phillip works full-time as a truck driver after earning his CDL license, and Rose contributes her time and heart to Alachua Habitat, working part-time with the very organization helping her family achieve stability.

Together, Rose and Phillip are raising four energetic, creative, and big-hearted kids. Terrence (18), the quiet and mature eldest, is artistic and interested in mechanics. Nolan (10) is a charismatic football lover and social butterfly. Nigel (8), their math whiz and prankster, brings energy and humor to the family, while Neilani (6), the self-proclaimed princess, who shines with creativity, confidence, and kindness.

Whether it’s movie nights, hiking trips, or cooking together, the Clark-Holcomb family treasures their time spent as a unit. Phillip enjoys fishing, basketball, and board games, while Rose fills her time with crafts, reading, and crocheting. They each bring unique gifts to their home–and together, they create a family culture filled with love, learning, and laughter. They both dream of one day owning a business they can pass down to their children—something built not only from hard work, but with deep love and shared purpose.

Throughout the process, Rose and Phillip have embraced every opportunity to learn and contribute. From hands-on construction days to monthly homeowner workshops, they’ve immersed themselves in building not just a house, but a future. One of Rose’s favorite parts has been choosing design details–flooring, tile, and countertops–that reflect their style and make the house feel like home.

With their home under construction, the family is already dreaming of life after move-in. For Rose, the most exciting space will be the master bathroom—after years of a family of six sharing a single bathroom, she looks forward to making it a cozy space. More than anything, Rose and Phillip look forward to creating personalized spaces for their children.

Owning a home means more than having four walls and a roof. For Rose and Phillip, it means stability, memories, and family. It’s a foundation they can finally call their own, one where their children can grow, dream, and see firsthand what’s possible when love, community, and determination come together.
