Alachua Habitat for Humanity Awarded $200,000 Publix Super Markets Charities Grant
Alachua Habitat for Humanity has been awarded a $200,000 grant from Publix Super Markets Charities to support affordable homeownership in Alachua County. The grant is the largest received from Publix Super Markets Charities and will help more local families and individuals attain safe, stable, affordable homeownership.
The funding will support labor and material expenses associated with Habitat’s homebuilding efforts locally in Alachua County. By offsetting construction costs, the grant helps keep the future homeowner’s mortgage affordable while ensuring the home is built with quality materials and skilled labor.
Grants like this help families such as future homeowner Katina Kearney. “Now that I have a child, I want to leave him a place to call home,” she said as she works toward purchasing her Habitat home in 2026.
“We are grateful to Publix Super Markets Charities for this significant investment in our community,” said Jessica Parrish, Chief Executive Officer of Alachua Habitat for Humanity. “This grant provides the labor and materials needed to build homes locally in Alachua County and aids in offsetting the increasing costs of land allowing us to continue our mission of making homeownership accessible for all.”
