Santa Fe House 15 in Partnership with CPPI

Santa Fe’s 15th Habitat House on the Move Thanks to CPPI Partnership

Gainesville – Alachua Habitat for Humanity is proud to announce two milestone events in July that will celebrate the 15th home constructed through its unique partnership with Santa Fe College and Builders Association of North Central Florida. The home, sponsored by Charles Perry Partners, Inc. (CPPI), was built by students at Santa Fe College’s Charles R. Perry Construction Institute and will soon be moved to its permanent location.

The Send-Off Celebration will take place on Tuesday, July 15 at 8:30 a.m. at the Santa Fe Charles R. Perry Construction Institute, where speakers from CPPI, Santa Fe College, and Alachua Habitat will recognize the incredible collaboration behind this home. The Home on the Move event will follow the next morning, Wednesday, July 16, with an estimated departure time of 8:45 a.m. and arrival at 14261 NW 135th Terrace, Alachua, FL 32615 by 10:30 a.m.

This future home belongs to Shavonne Washington, a lifelong Gainesville resident and Material Specialist at Shands Hospital. After spending years caring for others, Shavonne is now building something of her own—a safe, stable home where she hopes to grow a garden, cook healthy meals, and continue learning and growing both personally and professionally. “I’m in a place where it is time to step into my next journey,” she shared. “Habitat is truly a blessing.”

This marks the fourth Habitat home CPPI has sponsored through this partnership with Santa Fe College. “CPPI has supported opportunities to build strong communities and develop the next generation of builders for nearly six decades, and we’re proud to continue that tradition through our fourth whole house sponsorship with Alachua Habitat for Humanity and Santa Fe College,” said Brian Leslie, President and CEO of CPPI. "This partnership helps a local family achieve the dream of homeownership while also empowering students to gain real-world construction experience; it’s a meaningful way for us to give back and carry forward Mr. Perry’s legacy through the construction institute that bears his name.”

The home’s construction has provided Santa Fe College students with hands-on experience in building a house from the ground up. Once it arrives at its permanent location, Habitat staff, CPPI team members, and volunteers will complete the finishing touches. Among them will be Shavonne herself, who has embraced every stage of the Habitat program including swinging a hammer, attending Homeownership classes, and forming connections with other future homeowners. She’s excited to continue that journey, knowing that with every nail and brushstroke, she’s one step closer to the peaceful space she envisions: a sunlit living room filled with plants, family photos, and laughter shared with loved ones.

The public is invited to attend the celebration and move day events. For more information, please contact Jessica Kellar at jkellar@alachuahabitat.org.
