About Us

Founded in 1986, Alachua Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization with our own 501(c)3 designation. We are the local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International.

Building dreams, changing lives

Although we work in partnership with Habitat for Humanity International, Alachua Habitat for Humanity is an independent organization led by a local board of directors to coordinate all aspects of our work, including fundraising and program oversight.

Our service area is Alachua County, which includes the cities of Alachua, Archer, Gainesville, Hawthorne, High Springs, Micanopy, Waldo, and all rural areas within the County limits.

Alachua Habitat for Humanity's EIN # is: 59-2750078

Our Vision

A world where everyone has a decent place to live.

  • All are welcome

We believe that everyone deserves a decent and affordable place to call home and invite people of all ages, races, genders, religions, political views - or any of the other distinctions that too often divide us - to build together in partnership with the future homeowners who we are working with. Working together, side-by-side, we build solid houses, new relationships, and stronger communities.

  • Non-proselytizing policy

As a matter of policy, Habitat for Humanity International and its affiliated organizations will not proselytize. Nor will Habitat for Humanity work with entities or individuals who insist on proselytizing as part of their work with Habitat. This means that Habitat will not offer assistance on the expressed or implied condition that people must either adhere to or convert to a particular faith, or listen and respond to messaging designed to induce conversion to a particular faith.
