Celebrating 30 years of building strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter

Thirty years and 128 houses later, we are celebrating all of the community partnerships that make our work possible. Everyone deserves a safe and decent place to live, and we are extraordinarily fortunate to have a community that believes in Habitat's mission to bring people together to build homes, community, and hope. We celebrated our 30th anniversary at our annual fundraising dinner last week, honoring the families we partner with, as well as local businesses and individuals who help make a difference.

Congratulations, Gloria!

One of the most exciting milestones of home ownership is paying off a mortgage, and that's exactly what Habitat homeowner Gloria (below, right) did last month! We were lucky enough to catch the special moment at our 30th anniversary celebration last Friday when Gloria went to thank our affiliate's founder, Gladys Lane (below, left), for helping her embark on her Habitat journey two decades ago. We love what we do - building the future, one homeowner at a time!

Pizza and profits - keeping it local

Eat pizza at Satchel's Pizza and support your local community at the same time! Satchel's recently presented a $50,000 giant check to Alachua Habitat - these funds will be used to build a home in southeast Gainesville's Devonshire Hills neighborhood. Satchel's Pizza, partnering with First Magnitude Brewery, is planning volunteer days for staff and customers to work alongside our Habitat homeowner family to build the house. Half of the donated funds come from the fees collected when customers use the ATM at Satchel's, and the other half from restaurant profits.
