Christy Waterbury, who handles Habitat's closings through her job at US Title, was finally persuaded to apply to become a Habitat homeowner. And she's really glad she did!
Christy grew up in Palm Beach County and left Florida for some time as an adult. When she returned to Florida, she wanted to find a good place for raising children. Her older son Elliott is a freshman at GHS; Devon is a second grader at Wiles; and her daughter Skylar goes to prekindergarten. Christy's parents are supporting her by helping out at the build site.
The first day of this build, December 4th, 2021, coincided with Christy's birthday, and Women Build surprised her with cupcakes. Christy's sweat equity hours have included office work, for example: drawing on her experience to streamline the closing process.
Christy's children are so excited to be moving to a house with a nice lot and to a neighborhood where they will have the freedom to play outside. There is even a park next door with walking/scooter paths. Christy’s house is the fifteenth constructed by Alachua Women Build, an all-volunteer program of Habitat for Humanity
