How Women Build helps build more homes
Women Build is a Habitat for Humanity International program that encourages women to make a difference building homes and communities. Nearly 1,000 Habitat houses have been built by women crews around the world. The Women Build branch of Alachua Habitat for Humanity is currently building their third and fourth homes and fundraising has begun for a fifth home.

How to get involved with/help support Women Build
The cost to build a Habitat home in Alachua County today is $80,000.00; currently we are raising funds for our fifth house. You can help by donating your time to staff information/fund raising booths, purchasing tickets to Women Build events, making lunches for our builders, actually building, or in a multitude of other areas. Contact hfh.womenbuild@yahoo.com to find out how you can help.

Current Projects

We have completed 1 home and have nearly completed another home in Alachua County--

in Celebration Oaks. Construction will continue every Saturday 9:00am to 2pm.  Lunch is provided.  Please contact Jill.Carter@CH2M.com if you plan to attend.  Directions: Traveling east on University Avenue cross Waldo Road; bear right onto Hawthorne Road; turn right on SE 27th Street; Turn left onto SE 21st Avenue. Celebration Oaks is on the right just beyond the church. Parking is available at the Church lot but please do not walk across people's lawns to reach our house. Registration will be at the blue canopied area and you will need to sign in and sign out. You MUST wear enclosed shoes--NO sandals, Birkenstocks, cloggs, open toe or open heel shoes. You will have to leave the site if you are not in appropriate shoes. Tools, materials, safety glasses, and gloves are provided; we suggest you wear a hat and sunscreen. Water will also be provided but you may bring your own water bottle to help you ID your drink and to help reduce trash. Come on out and join the team!
