Celebration Oaks
In 1998, as part of an effort to increase building capacity, Alachua Habitat for Humanity purchased a 15.25 acre plot of land to provide for the creation of a new Habitat community, Celebration Oaks. For several years, the affiliate prepared the necessary engineering, surveying and permitting for this 30-home community located in southeast Gainesville. Each of these homes will be built entirely by funds donated by area citizens, and through the efforts of volunteer construction crews and future homeowners.
The official groundbreaking took place on January 22, 2004, and since that time, 30 homes have been completed. Celebration Oaks wilis now a community of 30 families, featuring three and four bedroom single family residences. This neighborhood will be unlike other communities in our area in that families will work alongside volunteers and other future homeowners to construct these homes. Hence, each family will be extremely well acquainted with their neighbors offering a real sense of community throughout the 30 home development.
Celebration Oaks cost is estimated $3.5 million in charitable donations. All types of donations including: cash, securities, personal property, real property, in-kind gifts, foundation grants, corporate gifts and payroll deductions helped to make this a successful venture.
