An anonymous donor sponsored an Alachua Habitat for Humanity home in our local community. The gift of $60,000 was offered to Habitat to honor Pope Francis for his commitment to social justice and to reinvigorate the Catholic community.
We were challenged to match the donor's gift by engaging the local Catholic community to help raise an additional $40,000 for this home build. We were encouraged to invite volunteers who are members of the Catholic faith to work with us in this mission. The donor's gift offered an opportunity for Catholics to unify and celebrate together a common goal by working side by side with volunteers from other faiths to build a home for the Rooks family in Newberry.
We'd like to thank the following churches for their support:
- Holy Faith Catholic Church
- Queen of Peace Catholic Church
- St. Augustine Catholic Church
- St. Francis Catholic Church
- St. Madeleine Catholic Church - High Springs
- St. Patrick's Catholic Church
- Anthem Church
